Web-based Email
Web-based email is similar to your Outlook or Eudora mail client. You do not need to install it on your
computer in order to use it. This is because web-based email are online web applications which only need
a standard web browser like Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator.
Web-based emails gives you direct access to your email anywhere in the world. It allows
you to read, reply to and delete emails, send new email messages (with attachments) and forward email
to others from anywhere.
Good examples of web-based email are HotMail and Yahoo Mail. Your website should come with your own
web-based email which is tightly integrated into your website. No settings are required.

Your incoming emails are collected and stored at your hosting provider.
Through the web-based email, you can then access your emails.
However, it is highly recommended that you download your emails regularly to your
email client and not leave them in your web-based email accounts. Accumulating your emails
online often results in difficulties receiving new emails, especially those with attachments.
To download your email to your computer, you will need an email client.
All email accounts have limited space at your hosting provider. The space acts as
temporary holding area until you download your emails to your email client. Hence,
you should not store your emails in your web-based email.
To free up the space, use an email client to
download your emails to your computer. Check out the Support Centre on
how to configure your email client.
Most likely, your web-based email session has expired. This happens after about 20 minutes of
non-activity in order to protect your privacy and security. Typing on your keyboard or browsing
other websites are not considered email "activities".
Solution #1
The best way is to complete composing your email before the expiring of your session. Different
web-based emails have different timings, a good guide is 15 to 20 minutes.
Solution #2
Should you need more time than that, compose your email "offline" using Notepad or Microsoft Word
before signing in back to your web-based email. Then do a cut and paste from your word-processor.
Solution #3
Another quick and useful way when using the web-based email is to do a "copy" of your completed
email content before hitting the "Send" button. In this way, should your session expiry, you can
simply sign in again, compose a new email, do a "paste" and send again!
Solution #4
Some of our customers prefer to save the half-complete email every now and then and then
continue with the email thereafter. It may be a little tedious but it can save you
lots of time should your session expire unexpectedly when composing a long or complex email.
Go to "Menu" or the main page of your web-based email. You should see a "Draft" folder, your
saved email messages are there. Just click on the subject title of choice and continue your
composition of the email.
